On the road in January 2015!

A year and a half of work, a lot of work.
Research, contacts, questions, calculations, calculations and more calculations.
Many questions, theories, data to be considered, so many variables.
A year and a half of work that went very fast!

We had thought of starting only in 2017, but all travelers we talked to said the same thing: "is too long, too long to wait."
After reviewing various issues, we decided to advance the starting early January 2015.

Since the project began, much has changed.
We had bought a VW Van T1 1975 and the idea was to restore it and then put on the road, starting with Brazil.
After much research, we decided to sell the "Jujuba" (with much heart ache ...), buy the car in the United States and begin the journey there. Besides being much cheaper than here in Brazil, in the American market there are several generations of Kombis (T1, T2, T3) for sale, with numerous engine options and some even with a choice of 4x4 traction, which can be very interesting for crossing some difficult regions.
Moreover, in Brazil, and we restore the van, we would definitely make the entire interior, equipping with bed, cupboards, counter, stove, refrigerator and sink, among other things.
We made many budgets and found that, with the final value of our estate purchase here in Brazil, we could buy two in the United States and still have good money. There are versions like Westfalia, which comes with everything ready, factory original.
The most important, fundamental thing is that it's a VW Bus (or corujinha, Kombi, pão de forma, Vanagon... it is called many different names around the world!).

Today we finished draw a map with our "basic travel itinerary." We consider several items, such as climate (elementary), costs, travel time, availability of access, must-see places and cultures with which we have a very deep connection.

We divided the project into four stages:

The first stage begins on January 15, 2015 and should last a year.

Buy the car in California and will make a great adventure across the United States, followed by the west coast to Canada and Alaska, returning along the east coast to Miami, ending the first step.

For reasons of cost and logistics, will this step alone.
Carla will meet me at the beginning of 2016, the United States, and then we begin the second step, towards Latin America.

    1. Hello friend! The T3 Syncro is our "sweet spot"! If we find one in good condition, with a value that is in our budget, will certainly be our choice for the trip.
You can tell us a site that has good tips about this model?

Big hug and thanks for the contact! :)
